New York has no shortage of great wine bars. But not all of them feel personal. Not all of them feel like they’re meant for you. CARTA was built to change that.
Tucked into the West Village, we’re a small team with a clear intention: to create a space that feels as good as the wine tastes — warm, thoughtful, unpretentious, and deeply local.
Not Just a Wine Bar — A Place to Land
We didn’t design CARTA to be trendy. We designed it to feel familiar. The kind of place where the lighting’s just right, the playlist feels easy, and the staff genuinely wants to make your night better — not upsell you on something you don’t want.
Whether you stop in for one glass or end up staying for three rounds and snacks, you’ll be met with the same kind of energy: calm, welcoming, and just the right kind of attentive.
Built for the Neighborhood (and for You)
Our space is small — just 35 seats — and that scale gives us room to notice the details. To remember your favorite bottle. To guide you toward something new without pressure. To give you a table that feels like it’s yours for the night.
We love seeing familiar faces walk in. But what matters just as much is when someone tells us: “This is my first time here, but it already feels like my spot.”
That’s exactly the point.
Come By, Come Back
Whether you’re local or just passing through, we hope you feel like part of the place when you walk in. No pretension. No pressure. Just good wine, small plates, and a space that invites you to stay awhile.
